Regular dental visits are a key component of any healthy lifestyle, and can help stave off common dental problems, including tooth decay and gum disease.
During your checkup, a dental hygienist will thoroughly clean your teeth, and our dentist will examine your teeth and overall oral health. Our restorative dentists use the finest materials and latest dental technology to ensure your needs are met.
From basic fillings to dental implants, a trip to Canton Family Dentistry can get you on the path to a smile you deserve. Call 734.386.7000 to speak with our restorative specialists.
Cosmetic Dentistry Services
Unlike general or restorative dentistry, cosmetic dental procedures are done electively, and they help improve the appearance of your smile.
Our experts use exceptional materials and industry-leading technology to perform cosmetic dentistry procedures on-site–so they’re convenient and affordable for you. Our staff can help you achieve the smile you’ve always wanted.
Oral Cancer Screening
Our dentist will talk to you about your health history and thoroughly examine your mouth for signs of mouth and/or throat cancer and other abnormalities. The screening will consist of a visual inspection of the mouth and a palpation of the jaw and neck.
Regular visits to your dentist are a part of early cancer prevention. If caught early, oral cancer can be more easily treated.
SRP – Scaling and Root Planing
Scaling and Root Planing is a procedure in which dentists or hygienists use sharp, specialized hand instruments, called “curettes,” to scrape mineralized deposits from the cementum surface of tooth roots. When the deposits are removed, the cementum surface is planed smooth, making it less conducive to bacterial colony formation.
If a diagnosis of generalized periodontal disease has been made, scaling and root planing may be needed on most or all of the teeth. If the diagnosis is localized periodontal disease, only the affected teeth are treated.
Periodontists are specialized dental professionals who can treat periodontal disease and issues with your dental implants.
Consult a periodontist for severe gum disease and other serious oral conditions. Periodontists offer a variety of treatments, including root surface debridement and scaling and root planing. They’re also specially trained to help maintain and repair dental implants.
